Friends of Some Animals
I am feeding two street cats at my house and called for help in getting them fixed. I was willing to pay for the operations.When I called your "friends of animals organization", I was told you do not do this. I only wanted information on how to have this done. I will never give to an organization who does not assist newbees in caring for animals of the street. I will also tell all newbees about your policies. In my opinion you are just another phony "Gringo" operation who has set itself up to profit from new people coming to Mazatlan.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Amigos de los Animales. Nadine and I started that organization about ten years ago. I can assure you that it does not profit anyone, except the animals that it helps. In fact I invite you to visit the shelter and form your own conclusions after seeing first hand what goes on there.
As to having your street cats fixed, what we can provide are traps for you to borrow so that you can capture them. If you then bring them to the shelter they will be spayed, have an ear clipped (for identification) and then given back to you to put back on the street. We have done that with literally hundreds of street cats. No donation required, but certainly appreciated. We run about $1000USD in the red each month, which is made up by donations. If you have any other questions or concerns, I'll be happy to address them. Let's use this forum so that everyone can see what is being said.
By the way, Amigos de los Animales tries to be as open an organization as possible. We post our meeting minutes, financials, and other info of interest in a wiki, which is open to everyone. The url is http://maztravel.com/amigos/
Feel free to contribute and/or review the existing documents.
One last note. I always find it nice to know who I am talking to. Would you mind posting a photo of yourself.
