moving to Mazatlan
me and my girlfriend are thinking of moving here. what area would you suggest and would she be able to get a job working as a hair dresser

Your GF probably could not get a working visa (permit) to work as a hairdresser unless one the the salons in the tourist zone would give her a job offer because she is a native English speaker (my assumption). Without the work permit, called a working FM3, she cannot legally work in México.
