Mazatlan

for visitors or residents of Paradise

Spent 3 wonderful days with a Mazatlan native when I was 16 years old and he was about 16 years old. I was vacationing with my family at the old El Pescador hotel (which no longer exists) in 1980. If I had been 18 and he'd asked me to stay, I may have said yes! Wondering what ever happened to him. He used to sell vanilla on the beach for a company called "Tropical World." He was saving money in hopes of one day going to medical school. Wondering if his dream ever came true! He would be in his mid 40's now. His name is Gustavo, and I believe his last name was Roman or Romano. I know that Mazatlan is still known as a big small town so wondering if anyone knows him or knows of him!

Thanks for your interest in my post. He went by the nickname of Gus. I have a feeling he may perhaps be the owner of the restaurant Gus y Gus, but I am not sure. I am trying to upload 2 images of him, but they are on a PDF file. so I am not sure how to do it(?)

Yes please post a picture, I know a lot of people who may be able to help, but more information is needed. Did he have a nick-name? Most men her have a nick-name that they use among friends and would be helpful in tracking down your guy. Also what else was he interested in , surfing, art, anything you can remember. It will probably be something small that helps us find him.

Hi Lori, my name is Virginia Foss (Ramos), I grew up in Mazatlan. The Last Names Roman or Romano are not familiar but the name Gustavo is very familiar. In 1980 I was always out (school, part time job and social activities) and I almost sure that I had to have seen this boy (perhaps you too) in Mazatlan, like you said Mazatlan is a big small town (more then than now).
In 1980 I was 17 years old, my home was in El Paseo Claussen #25 by "El Monumento al Pescador" on the beach. So aha El Pescador, I remember that Hotel.
I went to "El Colegio Sinaluence", "Escuela Preparatoria Mazatlan" and a couple more Universities. Also worked part time "Curiosity's" en "La Zona Dorada".
With me in the picture is my Grandson Steven, we are going back to Mazatlan next month to spend some time with my mom, family and so many friends. I will ask for Gustavo Roman or Romano to all of the people that I know. Do you have a picture? of you? or him? or both? (even better) from the 80's? It will be wonderful.
Regards,
