Hi Henry, My name is Liz, I live in Chicago but I'm seriously considering moving back to Mexico to Zapopan, Jalisco. I recently separated and have no desire to be in Chicago, I'm trying to find the safest yet economical way of hauling my furniture and belongings to Mexico. I heard of a Robert Hudson that does a good job on this, I haven't been able to reach him on his numbers and some of the websites do not link. I found this one, but cannot reach him through those numbers http://www.movingtomexicoguy.com/# - If all possible, can you let me know of any info, comment, advice, you may have? You can email me at elizabethaceves@hotmail.com. Thank you!

Hi Henry. My name is Austin. I am new to the site. I have a question for you. My wife and I are coming to mazatlan for a getaway. We plan on staying for 6 months: the length of a tourist visa. I have been reading all of your pages and found quite a lot of neat things. What I can't find anymore is your page that shows 3 different budget places to stay. I believe one of them was an $8 a night motel. We are both on social security and are looking to save money while there for 6 months before moving to the Philippines where my father lives. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hey Henry, I like your photos. As I looked at them I realized there was something at work there. Suddenly I remembered something about the Vanishing Perspective. I went out that afternoon and saw things with a new eye, found several examples, tried to capture a few with my camera, and discovered how difficult it can be to do well. Now I really appreciate your photos. Thanks for helping me to see things in a different way and to give myself some new challenges. By the way, I always enjoyed your technical articles in the Pearl years ago- thanks for those as well (Ever collect them in a book?).

paul

p.s. the Personal Info section needs another option for the Area in Mazatlan category: La Isla de la Piedra (and please, not 'Stone Island'!) Have you seen the rock for which the island is named?

Thanks.

Hi Henry,

I was scouting around for historical info on mzt and found your brief outline via google. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Am wondering if you have more data. I am organizing an online presentation of mazatlan ( non-profit ) and am searching for quality info. Will be visiting mzt again for la navidad, but though I'd always like to meet new folks, realistically speaking won't be able to visit all my families as it is.

Feel free to contact me at gmarkyoung@gmail.com. If you're curious, I've lived on and off in mzt for 15 years, but mostly work as software programmer in the states. Currently coding on MS OS team, but don't be too impressed. I just work on the games that come with Vista and Windows 7.

Thanks again for posting the history stuff!

Hi Henry and Nadine,
I've browsed this site a few time and always find something useful! Your insights and knowledge seem well researched. We were there in January and have purchased a condo that we get in July/August 2009 so I am quite intrigued with all the tips and tidbits. We coming down in November this year to vacation and also do a little research into furnishing our new condo. Since this is not to be our full time residence yet, we don't have used items to bring across the border and it sounds like bringing new furniture is not easily done. We have been referred to Brad Eishold and have been in touch with him via email and plan on meeting him etc in Nov. I was wondering if you have any other suggestions for furniture shopping and accessories? Any advise or tips would be appreciated. Thanks, Shawn & Vic

Hi, I visited Mazatlan twice, with my boyfriend who has family here. We had thought of buying a small vacation home here at one time, he fell ill and has since passed away. I dont know when or if I will ever be able to visit here again, and this site is a way for me to visit and rememeber the good times. Im so glad you started it. I always check in to your web site and check for homes.
thanks again

Hello Nadine & Henry....

I tried to email you this info via your email contact info but it got bounced back that failed to send. So.... here's more info for you for your program.

I was so fortunate to have stumbled upon your site. It's amazing, the amount of info and even coupons you have.

I have 2 suggestions for you..... Aromaspa(contact Knute - he is the owner)

#320 Mariano Escobedo
Entre Belasario Dominguez
Historical Center
Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico 82000
982.11.11 or 982.52.11
famousroyalspa@earthlink.net

& Randi's Happy Horses(contact Randi - she is the owner - I don't have her info)...they are both highly recommended on the cruise forums, that's how i found out about them.. lots of people are booking services with these vendors and I am sure it will help you to have them on your coupon list.

BTW - I would love to contact Antonio's Van Tours but there was no email address. Would you be able to send me his email info or give him my email or phone number below? I would love to book him for his tour to Copala for the full day @ $80 p/day & with your discount for 3 people. If he isn't available... are there a few other driver's whose email you can provide to me? I'd like to book it as soon as possible as we are leaving NYC on 4/26/08 & arriving on 5/1. I'd like to hire someone to go to Copala while we are in port. Thanks so much for your help. I can't call as I am in NYC and out of work. I just got laid off and am trying to save on my expenses on this trip. So any help you can provide would be so appreciated.

Blessings,
Lisa

we have not been able to find Mauricio who owned the Shipwreck Restaurant. Do you know where he is? He had the most consistently good food in Mazatlan.

Hi Henry and Nadine! Just wanted to thank you for your site and your dedication to promoting this wonderful city. We've relied on your site over the years. Impressive updates to the website, by the way.
We're looking seriously at moving to Mazatlan. After visiting every year for the past 13...we figure it's tie to take the leap. Any direction you could provide with the basics of getting started in this direction would be appreciated.

Hi Henry, My husband & I & another couple recently returned from our stay at Torres mazatlan. This was our 2nd time there & although the resort was gorgeous as usual, we experienced a problem that has been troubling me since we;ve gotten back. The 4 of us made our way into town, and the couple whow as w/ us wanted to show us where they had stayed on a previous trip to Mazatlan, which was the Pueblo Bonito. After we walked the grounds there, we stopped in "Munchkins" right across the street. A man named "Lacho" who was dressed nicely & wore a "Mayan Group" pin approached us regarding a time share presentation. We were hesitant as we had been warned about these things, but agreed to it as some gifts were promised for our time. To make a long story short...or at least shorter, Sae Garden only came through w/ a few of the gifts, and part of our "gift" was to go on a tour w/ Lacho, & to be given 20lbs of large shrimp for each couple, however things were a little odd from thebeginning, but we thought, well, this is a respectable company, surely, it's on the up & up. Our 1st questioning came when we went to rent the car. It was our understanding that Lacho would rent it & take us, upon our arrival, we were told that WE had to pay to rent the car. We agreed as it still seemed reasonable to get a pvt tour. Lacho stopped at a few local stores to load up on beer, which we found troublesome & unproffessional, & the final straw was when he offered one of our friends cocaine. We immediatly asked to be driven back to Torres & he never did deliver our promised shrimp. Aside from that dissappointment, my main concern is about this man Lacho. I have tried to get in contact w/ someone from the Mayan Sea Garden rigt down the road from Torres Mazatlan, but haven't made any headway yet. I just want to advise their management of this man in hopes what happened to us, won't happen to someone else. Thanks for any help or suggestions you may have.
Sincerely,
Sharon Launtz
