Getting to Mazatlan

It would seem that the air fare has doubled in the last few
months. We are coming to Mazatlan in October and
staying for six weeks. We have considered both driving down
and the bus both seem rather long but so are the cheaper air
fares -- eleven hours through Dallas and Mexico City. We
live in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Anyone find a cheaper way to go?

I just heard that WestJet is offering reasonable priced flights. I don't know if they serve Albuquerque or not, though!

The drive from Albuquerque would be a nice drive. Once you hit Mexico out of Arizona, it is toll roads the entire trip. It will take you 2 full driving days.
